A slow down year #personalselfcare #localexploration

This year has been turbulent for the whole world. So many people have had their lives changed in some way. It’s been a year of challenge and refocus for a lot of people. Even organisations have had to learn how to restructure the way they do business. Some businesses have prospered, while others have endured significant losses.

This year I allowed myself some time to refocus and slow down my writing schedule. I embraced the slow down. While I was still writing the process included more rewriting (no new work) and some poem creation. The other direction I allowed myself to engage within a more significant way was hiking and camping.  This opportunity was a fabulous way to get to experience my local area but also to experience what my state has to offer.

This was my opportunity to slow down and get back to nature more regularly. My daughter and I began researching exciting hiking trails. We turned to All Trails to find tracks that were a little more challenging than the basic hike. We were after walks that lasted about 6-8 hours. Warrie Loop Trail

Each trail challenged us with something new. We loved water crossings and found the Northbrook River Trail to be one of our favourites. This trail was so much fun that we hiked it twice!

I found this year to be both challenging and self-reflecting. I am grateful to our leaders in Queensland. We have been lucky in travelling through this pandemic without the hard lockdown our southern community had to endure. I hope soon they will begin to experience their great outdoors again.

Keep up the great work Australia!
